INFO ABOUT MACAWS
Blue And Gold Macaw she just loves playing with are dog
Blue and Gold Macaws
are the most popular. These are the clowns of the macaw world. They are very outgoing, intelligent, playful, and wonderful companions. However, they are most likely to test their owners and their boundaries. They are most often seen in bird shows due to their intelligence, their trainability and their outgoing antics. If acquired as handfed babies and handled by all members of the family, along with properly established rules, they are most likely to remain gentle to everyone. They love to play and are a high energy bird. They can be very loud. Their devotion is one of their outstanding traits. Sadly many are now gone from certain areas. In the 1960's they disappeared from parts of SE Brazil and in the 1980's they disappeared from areas in Trinidad. Thousands were exported yearly. From 1982-1984 over 18,000 were exported from Bolivia alone. Today they are almost gone from French Guiana and Surinam. They are probably the most popular and well known of the macaws. They are around 32-35 inches in length and they weigh around 900-1200 grams. Talking ability will vary between individuals
This is a Green Wing Macaw
Greenwing Macaw
Their name is misleading as they are predominantly crimson red with a band of green on the wing. The facial patch is traversed with red feathers which looks like Indian war paint. Not commonly bred in captivity, these extremely intelligent birds are inquisitive about everything. They are exceptionally interactive with people. The Greenwing has only recently become readily available as pets. Wild caught birds were difficult to breed and availability of domestic bred babies has lagged behind the demand. They are the smartest of the large macaws. Because of this, they are prone to mischief. Extremely intelligent birds with an ability to learn quickly. They are extremely socially interactive in a variety of settings. Much larger than either a Blue and Gold or a Scarlet Macaw. Along with the Buffon's and Hyacinths they are the largest of the parrot family. There are two subspecies of this species. One that is as large as a Hyacinth Macaw.

This is a Severe Macaw

This is a Ruby macaw
The Ruby Macaw is a hybrid cross between a Scarlet Macaw and a Green-winged Macaw and is quite attractive. Hybrids are usually bred for color rather than personality, so their characteristics can be uncertain.
The personality of a Scarlet is such that it requires good socialization and a firm consistent hand in training, especially as it matures. The Green-wing is a very gentle, affectionate and sensitive macaw. The Ruby can have the characteristics of the Scarlet, but it can also incorporate the gentle nature of the Green-winged. Ruby Macaws can be a very affectionate and playful, good talkers, and fun pets that are very beautiful.
